Aaliyah Dana Haaughton gained prominence after the release of her debut album Age Ain't Nothing but an Number in 1994. When she was just 15, the album achieved Gold status. It was done as an album that was heavily inspired by R. Kelly and it brought her into the spotlight. The year 1996 saw her release her sophomore album One In A Million with Jermaine dupri and Timbaland. The album featured the hit number one single If Your girl only had known. Aaliyah was a well-known R&B vocalist after the release. Aaliyah was a part of the legendary Jet-Li, the famous martial artist in Romeo Must Die (2000) the action and romantic film. Her role came about after being spotted by film producer Joel Silver at an awards event. In 2002, she was able to play the film vampire Queen of the Damned which was based on Anne Rice's Anne Rice novel. The Matrix Sequels followed, featuring Zee as the lead character. The actress has also been featured in Leverage, Suits, Grey's Anatomy and Grey's Anatomy. She has also been featured in commercials for big brands such as international automobile manufacturer Volvo. She currently lives with her family in Los Angeles along with her wife, son and daughter. She also pursues her acting career.
